Walruses are iconic Arctic marine mammals known for their massive size, long tusks, and social behavior. Found on sea ice and coastlines, they use their tusks to haul themselves out of the water and to break breathing holes in the ice. Walruses play a key role in the Arctic ecosystem, feeding primarily on clams and other benthic creatures. However, climate change poses a serious threat to their survival, as melting sea ice limits their resting and breeding grounds. Conservation efforts focus on protecting their habitat and reducing human disturbances.
